Our team of directors have decades of research experience and are highly adept at all the core skills of market research, from group moderation and survey programming to statistical analysis and report writing.

Humphry Smith (Managing Director) has degrees in philosophy from Cambridge and Oxford Universities, with academic specialization in formal logic. Before working in market research, he was a fund manager for GFM SA, working in the field of CIS sovereign and semi-sovereign debt. He has many years’ experience of B2B market research, in particular competitive intelligence, and has co-ordinated many global projects relating to healthcare, finance, education and technology.

Louis Vainqueur (Research Director) is a specialist in information and economic analysis. He previously worked as an independent research analyst in the Energy and FMCG sectors and as a macroeconomics teacher. His expertise covers economic and strategic analysis, exploitation of academic research and data modelling. Louis is a graduate in Finance of the Grande Ecole Sciences Po, Paris, with a BA in economics and a diploma in applied mathematics and social science from Sorbonne University. He also has a postgraduate certificate in prospective and strategy from Arts et Metiers.

Frederick Salt (Information Management and Technology Director) is an IT professional with particular specialism in database development. He has designed and maintained Serrula Research’s information architecture since 2009.
